Jennifer Bass, O.D.
Dr. Bass was born and raised in Elizabethtown, IL where she graduated from Hardin County High School. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree from Southeast Missouri State University in 1998, she attended Indiana University School of Optometry, which is consistently ranked as one of the top three optometry schools in the country. Her fourth year of optometry school was a full 12 months of intensive clinical training where she served as an optometrist at the Eye Center of Munice, IN, Ireland Army Hospital in Ft. Knox, KY, and EyeCare Consultants in Evansville, IN. After graduating in 2002, Dr. Bass began seeing patients at ProVision.
Dr. Bass enjoys practing full-scope optometry, which includes glasses, contact lenses and ocular health. She is particularly interested in educating patients on how eye health corresponds to overall health, especially in high-risk groups such as diabetics. She has spoken at many senior events and diabetic support groups. She also helps patients who are visually impaired by performing "low vision" evaluations, which include magnifier and filter assessments. Dr. Bass is a member of the vision rehabilitation section of the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Bass lives in Mt. Vernon with her husband, Jimmy. They have a calico cat named Pumpkin and a blakc lab, Jezebel. They are active members of Central Christian Church, where Dr. Bass enjoys singing in the choir. When she happens to have spare time, Dr. Bass enjoys counted cross stitch, watching CSI and spending time with her family.
